According to the Public Relations Office of the Qom seminary scholar’s community, following the genocide committed by the usurping Zionist regime in the Gaza Strip, the Qom seminary scholar’s community issued an open letter calling upon scholars and intellectuals of the Islamic world to fulfill their humanitarian and Islamic duty toward the people of Gaza.
The text of the letter is as follows:
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious,
The Most Merciful all praise is due to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah’s blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah, and upon his pure family and chosen companions.
Allah the Almighty says in His Noble Book: “And what is the matter with you that you do not fight in the cause of Allah and for the oppressed among men, women, and children who say, ‘Our Lord, take us out of this city of oppressive people and appoint for us from Yourself a protector and appoint for us from Yourself a helper.'” (An-Nisa: 75).
Scholars of the Islamic world, esteemed professors of seminaries and universities in Islamic lands—act now to aid the oppressed people of Gaza. An hour’s delay is too late.
Today, the Islamic world faces a great divine test. The defenseless people of Gaza are facing severe food blockade, and some governments have not only remained silent in the face of this genocide, but have risen in support of the Zionist state, so that the world witnesses the complete alignment of all disbelief forces against all of Islam.
The Noble Quran awakened the Islamic nation against the Jews in the early days Islam and considered the Jews the fiercest enemies of the believers: *”You will surely find the most intense of the people in animosity toward the believers [to be] the Jews and those who associate others with Allah” (Al-Ma’idah: 82) and has unveiled their schemes and deceptions against Islam, considering friendship with Jews equivalent to joining their ranks: *”O you who have believed, do not take the Jews and the Christians as allies. They are [in fact] allies of one another. And whoever is an ally to them among you – then indeed, he is [one] of them. Indeed, Allah guides not the wrongdoing people” (Al-Ma’idah: 51)
Today, the silence of every Muslim is a betrayal of the Noble Quran and striking at the roots of Islam.
Today, the resounding call of the Commander of the Faithful, Ali ibn Abi Talib (peace be upon him) echoes from the depth of history: “By the One Who split the seed and created the soul, were it not for the presence of those present, the establishment of proof by the existence of supporters, and the covenant Allah took from the scholars—that they would not remain silent in the face of the gluttony of oppressors and the hunger of the oppressed—[I would not hesitate]…” This demonstrates that the value of every position and status in Islam lies in its benefit to the Islamic nation.
Today, it is the duty and obligation of the Islamic nation’s scholars to break the silence in the face of this blatant crime, the inaction of political powers in Islamic lands, and the passivity of the international community and global organizations. They must raise their voices to save the oppressed people of Palestine from the clutches of the usurping rulers, so that Islamic governments awaken from their negligence and fulfill their responsibilities.
Today, indifference to the divine command to help the oppressed is equivalent to disbelief.
The Qom seminary scholar’s community condemns this immense injustice and calls upon the scholars of Islam to unite, strengthen Muslim solidarity, and express outrage at this crime. The Community demands an end to silence and urges efforts to support the oppressed Palestinian nation. “And those who have wronged are going to know to what [kind of] return they will be returned.” (Ash-Shu’ara: 227)
